In March 2017, I was chosen along with 4 others to be an ambassador for World Bicycle Relief.(announcement here) I have been a strong supporter of theirs for a few years now, as I know first hand the power of the bicycle.

As my friends and family know, I am an avid cyclist. Riding my bike has helped me lose weight, get through some tough times, and has connected me with so many wonderful people that have become great friends.

What the bike has done for me is nothing compared to what a bike given to someone in need by World Bicycle Relief has done for them. Students can go to and from school and still have time to do their chores around the house. Doctors can reach more patients across multiple villages. Small entrepreneurs can get more work. All because the bicycle increases their mobility, taking them far less time to go from point A to point B to point C.

The following video hit home for me because I have a 15 year old daughter: https://worldbicyclerelief.org/forward/#modal

My experiences with the bicycle is why I am supporting World Bicycle Relief, with a personal fundraiser. WBR provides access to independence and livelihood through The Power of Bicycles. The money raised through my fundraiser helps to provide specially designed, locally assembled bicycles to students, healthcare workers and entrepreneurs in rural Africa; connecting them with education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

World Bicycle Relief is currently working to provide bicycles to students (70% girls), teachers, and educational workers in rural parts of Africa. Any amount helps, $25 pays for a wheelset, $50 pays for a mechanic’s toolkit, $147 pays for one bike. Any amount in between or above helps. Of course, your donation is 100% tax deductible.

Thank you for your support
